Abram Clark

Bio

Abram Clark is a Senior Software Engineer based in Seattle, Washington, where he lives with his wife and cats. When he's not writing code professionally, he can be found playing piano, riding bikes, or tinkering in the backyard — designing generative art, building electronics, or printing the latest CAD project on one of his 3D printers. He's been coding since he was 10 years old, when he first fell in love with the idea that pure logic could be used to build something from nothing.

That passion turned into a career spanning over two decades. Abram got his start at the University of Washington's Information School, where he developed and maintained administrative tools for faculty and department operations, and served as a teaching assistant for the school's Web Technology Solutions course — designing curriculum, giving lectures on JavaScript, and mentoring students one-on-one through server-side programming and database design.

From there, he moved into the startup world. As Lead Software Engineer at Internet Community & Entertainment Corp., he designed and built the backend of an auction system from the ground up, establishing the rigorous transaction-consistency practices that would define his engineering approach going forward. In 2009, he co-founded NewHive, a social media creativity platform where he served as CTO — conceiving the product, designing the architecture, leading all engineering, and growing it to 50k users across 115 countries. The platform's centerpiece was a sophisticated drag-and-drop web design tool backed by a full social layer, built on Python, MongoDB, JavaScript, and cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP.

After NewHive, Abram brought his systems expertise to bear as a Virtual CTO consultant for GlasFunds, a private equity funding platform, where he led a zero-downtime database migration and designed the schema for a complex two-sided financial marketplace.

Most recently, he spent nearly eight years as a Backend Senior Software Engineer at EasyPost, a shipping logistics API company, where he architected and built systems at scale — most notably leading the design and implementation of an in-house address verification service in Rust that ran 50x faster than the vendor solution it replaced and delivered significant annual cost savings. He also led multiple extractions from an overloaded monolith, built new API products from the ground up, and mentored junior engineers in architecture and schema design.

Abram is now focused on his next chapter, pursuing opportunities at the intersection of machine learning, data pipelines, and AI-powered tools — particularly building search engines, knowledge graphs, and data visualization systems powered by LLMs and document vectors.
